This systematic review comprehensively examines the existing data on Hearing Voices Groups (HVGs) and other self-help groups for individuals experiencing voices, with the aim of evaluating the tangible benefits perceived by attendees. The databases CINAHL, APA PsycArticles, APA PsycInfo, Social Sciences, SocINDEX, UK & Ireland Reference Centre, and Medline were examined for suitable academic articles. This process resulted in the selection of 13 papers for inclusion. Participants of HVG/self-help groups reported a decline in feelings of isolation, augmented social and coping capabilities, and a more comprehensive understanding of their voices' purpose and environment. Hope for the future, and the catalytic role they play in recovery, are provided by these groups.
